Mark Manson's three time best selling novel, "The Subtle Arts of Not Giving a Fudge," delves into how people often fixate on reward rather than acknowledging the struggles. The desire for the recognition and the need to please others play a significant role in this mindset. Desire for the reward? Desire to please? Why?
Adam Grant discusses imposter syndrome or self-doubt in individuals, which can be influenced by Fudge Around & Found Out's post. Some sh*t on him, while other praised his work. Our response to circumstances is shaped by our learning experiences and personalities. For instance, individuals with strong personalities may find motivation in being told they can't accomplish something. Our reactions to words and situations are personal and unique, and we should avoid belittling others' successes and accomplishments. Instead, let's celebrate and share our achievements. An accomplice? Bragging? Stop it! Flip it, and not talk about failure. Brag about it in small doses instead of shrinking back. Partnering together and embracing change can lead to hidden gems among those who don't give a fudge. The invisibility cloak is among the no fudge given. If we don't toot our own horn, who will? Humble brag? It's essential to take credit for our accomplishments and maintain a healthy degree of self-esteem that includes accepting our failures, mistakes, and flaws. True self-esteem can't be a measure of how we feel about our success.
Forgiving ourselves for our imperfections and setbacks is vital for our survival fudging fudge, for not living up to what we want from ourselves, for having failure and down moments and days (weeks, months, years) where nothing seem to go right and for having convinced ourselves this will never changes. To keep going in our darkest hours requires multiple doses of self-compassion. Building self-compassion allows us to weather failures by giving no fudge by outside noises, forgive ourselves for screwing up, embrace insecurities and flaws, and keep trying again despite them.
People who demonstrate self-compassion should be admired for their bravery, courage, and resilience to be defeated. As the saying goes, "some people will learn how to appreciate you by losing you. Go where you are celebrated, NOT tolerated. If people treated you like an option, leave them like a choice. You're worth being loved and admires." Embrace being a business owner and being true to yourself with no fudge given. "Your smile is your logo. Your personalities is your business card, and the way you make others feel is your trademark." So be the no fudge given to someone who leave a mark, not a scar. The choice is yours; don't beg.
