life at first 标准.
but love have no 标准 at all.
when a man and a woman have no money,
it'd think it should be the same.
but no,
a woman without money is someone men are expected to provide for,
a man without money is someone many women quietly walk away from.
after its final heartbreak, can a heart really fall in love a second time?
no.
a novel may reveal new insights and meanings each time it read it,
but its ending never changes.
adult life isn't a fairy tale.
does it disappoint it?
is this the growing up it imagined?
is this the future it pictured back when it still knew how to laugh without thinking?
so where did the self who used to love laughing go,
the one who laughed with their head thrown back at the sky?
between staying beside its children and working to earn more money,
which would it choose?
it chooses money.
will it regret missing all the bubbles,
all the small moments,
the quiet joys of ordinary days?
perhaps.
but it would rather miss them now to give its children the world it never had than grow old full of regret,
watching them wade against the current the way it once did.
it calls itself “it,”
because somewhere along the road
it stopped feeling like a person,
just a body moving forward,
fighting with everything it has
to earn the right
to be simply an ordinary individual.
it is tired, isn't it?
did it let time dry it up,
leave it cracked like clay forgotten in the sun??
it has no 标准 anymore,
because it likes being ordinary.
& to be ordinary is harder than it seems.
to stay ordinary,
even harder.
a star that once burned bright now longs for the quiet of an ordinary life.
some peeps long to hear, "i miss you,"
or "i love you."
but this ordinary star,
with its small unremarkable heart
& no 标准,
wants only one promise,
one impossible, fragile vow,
"i will always accompany you..."
who in this world
can speak those words,
& let them be true?
“even until I breath my last breath, until death do us part,”
it murmurs to the night,
“i will accompany you;”
